How long does 350z clutch last

High gear and floor the throttle is when the clutch as the most force on it. It my be the clutch is slipping and then as it warms up the friction surface gets alittle more bite and then does not slip when hot?? Thanks for your replies, there is no juddering from the car, no slippage from the cluthc in 1, 2nd or 3rd gears on when you rev hard in 4th of 5th gear, there is no noise or juddering, it only does it in the morning and on spanish roads, which is making me wonder if it is slight wheel spin, but i dont think it is, im taking it to a garage this week to get it checked over anyway.

I am over in Spain and a bit worried about this Clutch problem i have, I have a very good mechanic that can carry out a clutch change and some other works on the car. He has asked me to ask everyone, if the nissan z is a Single Mass or a Dual Mass and is it necessary to change both the clutch and the flywheel at the same time is it worth it. Alex is it for both your parts do you have in stock and can you ship to spain, do you accpet paypal, credit card etc etc? It is advised to swop out the fly at the same time as the clutch and replace with a single mass flywheel.

Are these Exedy Clutch Kits and Fidanza Fly wheels upgrades to the genuine standard, is there much difference in price between replacing what Alex is recommending and getting a stock standard one? My car has no mod cons, no upgrades and no performance enhancers. Could this be the start of something i wonder LOL. What benefits will i get by changing the fly and clutch and replacing the dual for single, i really have no clue about all this. Alex I leave on the 20th November for 3 weeks getting married and my honeymoon will hope to order before I go, but money is a bit tight, it may have to wait till im back.

You have pm mate. As far as I'm aware a lightened flywheel will make the car rev quicker, both gaining and dropping revs, and will make the car feel more responsive. Downside is that steady speed driving such as motorway cruising becomes harder because of the lack of smoothing force in the flywheel.

And revs will drop more unexpectedly when driving up hills, so you need to be quicker to react to squeeze the accelerator.. Not exactly one you can unbolt if you don't like it.. Hi Kano, thanks for the information that you have provided, but, if its going to cost me the same amount to get a standard replacement wouldnt you consider the investment in the mod anyway???

Could make the car harder to sell on unless you don't tell the next owner which is a bit naughty. If you need to remove it it will only take an hour or so of effort and you dont need any special skills or tools other than basic mechanical ability and a torque wrench.

I fit a lightened flywheel before a manifold spacer , the dual mass flywheel holds the motor back with the huge weight of it. Guys, im not really looking for performance enhancing modifications at this time of year, im just about to fly away for 3 weeks to get married, then its christmas, so im looking for the cheapest and safest way to sort out the problem with the clutch.

At quid for clutch and flywheel, plus shipping to spain and also labour time for a mechanic to do it im going ot be looking at the best part of quid, which at this time of year i cant really muster. What would be the cheapest option that i could repair my problem with, before doing any more damage to the car, i dont want to run the car much longer with the slippage.

Suppose it would be hours labour. First thing you should do is get some quotes from local dealers or mechanics, see how the quotes come out. Try dealers first then independent clutch replacement centers. If you have run it for any period with the slippage occurring then I'm afraid it's pretty much guaranteed that you will need a new flywheel.

Could you lay it up until you can afford it more comfortably? Ok so you may want to determine why your clutch is slipping first. Im on my fourth clutch in under two years. We suspect that the master cylinder is at fault.

It is absolutelu crucial for you to try and determine what is causing the slippage, otherwise you'll end up spending thousands litrally on something that you should not have to. Your shot has nothing to do with your appetite for clutches!! Your not having much luck with them are you? It may not be a mechanical problem, it can also be peoples driving style.

I try to get on and off the clutch as fast as i can to reduce the clutches slip time. Some people slip the clutch alot with out even noticing. If there arent Ive seen a few Zeds in the south of France so there must be some sort of dealer network in France, would it be easier to nip over the border, obviosly that depends where in spain you are, the border may not be that close.

Hi there, potentially there are some dealers in Spain but its finding them and getting the right part that I was worried about. I am miles away from France, on the southern most tip of Spain, near to Gibraltar in fact about 5miles from it.

I wouldnt be able change a clutch myself I wouldnt know where to start. Sometimes you get lucky and it gets covered under warranty. That sounds like extremely low miles for a clutch to go out. Definitely take it to Nissan. The OEM clutch can last over k miles if you're careful about it. The more you feather the clutch, the more wear it will see. Given the amount of clutch failures from bad slave cylinders, though, I would think that is more likely than you having already eaten through the entire thing.

With the track and drag use, the OEM clutch is going to fail really quickly. It's unlikely the dealership will fix under warranty nor would I suggest they replace it with another stock piece. It will likely fail again. This setup has proven itself on countless Z and Z's over the years and very streetable. If you are looking for something that can hold up to extreme track and drag racing use, then you may want to look at the OS Giken Twin Disc. It's quite a bit more expensive and not quite as friendly on the foot.

Only you can decide if it's overkill for your usage patterns with the car. Let me or Ryan know if we can help. Last edited by Sharif Forged; at PM. Originally Posted by fuct. Some cars well over K easily as The Trouser proves. Today I smelt a burning smell, I know there are many variables. Only on 58k but I don't know how the car was driven the 8 years before I owned it. Im on 70k still on the original clutch but i do have a new one ready to replace, i think they're a pretty sturdy part but as said it all depends how the cars been driven previously.

As Dan said. When mine started slipping, it starts in the higher gears first. So in 6th gear, I'd floor it and the revs would jump and no acceleration, then gradually 5th gear had the same symptoms and then a little in 4th gear. At that point, I managed to drive it all the way to Sly's in Rochester from Luxembourg around miles. You can post now and register later.
