Does anyone not like the hunger games

Read my mind. Kid, 12 years old January 5, Gory but overall a good movie The Hunger Games. Everyone has heard of it. Whether a friend read it and told you the story or you read it,most people can agree on one thing:it's gruesome and emotional.

I myself have read the books and this is definitely a Dystopia. The first hunger games movie did not really have any great messages I could find.

They value bravery, and strength, but they also value being ruthless, and a bit of a primal instinct a will to live. This might be a good message to you but I certainly don't think eight year old's should hear about killing to survive.

I have to admit I'm being a bit of a hypocrite -I watched it when I was eight- but that is my honest feeling and up. Katniss is definitely a good role model,brave,self-less,though sometimes she's a bit irrational and acts out of instinct.

She also definitely has the will to survive,as I mentioned earlier. That is not a minor message, almost all of the games are based on that. You are weak or strong. Weak die. Strong battle. Only one survives. Violence is going to be looooooooooong. The reaping shows gruesome, past games, and it might shock little kids that anyone could send 12 year old's to that. The first scene in the games shows the Cornucopia battle,I guess you could call it.

That kills several tributes, including being stabbed and other gruesome fights. I won't say much more about violence to shorten this, but there are violent boils? More like swollen faces.

Seriously, you will cry. The scene might shock little children, like my sister who watched it ttw years ago. Gory injuries and much, much more awaits. There are several kisses, including a passionate one between the two main characters.

Peeta admits his love for Katniss, which started in I'm assuming as he said the very first day ever a school first grade, which means 6 or 7.

I never remember swearing or consumerism, but I can tell you Haymitch drinks like,a lot. I think there are no drugs, but Katniss is given something to force Peeta to sleep. No smoking. All in all,if you've read the book you will be surprised,as it is much more gory and detailed, but you will not be dissapointed,it is great. If you haven't,give it a try anyways. My two BFF's love the Hunger Games and they've never read the books I admit I have told them about it It's really good, but children under like, ten r eleven should not watch it.

I did 12 and up because of the gory scenes but you should cope at Great movie,I recomend it. Read my mind 1. Kid, 12 years old March 24, I totally disagree with every comment I've seen so far Everyone's saying that it's way too violent and gruesome and it's sick because it's kids killing kids.

There is so much more going on than the violence. That's the whole point, kids killing kids. It's sick and the people in Panem are trying to stop it and Katniss starts the rebellion. Everyone should. You people should really think because this movie gives you a whole new perspective on how awful our world could get. This is an amazing movie and I totally disagree with all of you people who think there is too much violence. Helped me decide. Had useful details. Read my mind 6.

Teen, 13 years old Written by Bad Kharmah April 23, The hunger games, is it ok for kids? The hunger games is a great movie, no more, no less. The hunger games is pretty well known by now and is very popular, but I am writing to the parents who are thinking about letting their kid watch the hunger games. So not that bad, though most parents are unsure about the violence. The violence really depends on the person watching the movie, I am a gore fan and love graphic kills, so this movie might not be that violent.

But there are some people that are more sensitive to blood or gore than others are and they might not like it, and that's ok.

If you're child thinks they can handle it then warn them what is in the movie and let them watch it but if they find they can't handle it then you can turn it off. Great movie, may be intense for younger viewers. The Hunger Games is a great movie based on a great book. It is very entertaining, but if you really want to understand it well, I suggest you read the book, as it has a lot more detail.

As far as violence goes, there is quiet a lot of fighting as this is what the movie is about. The main character, Katniss, is burned by a fireball and there is a wound on her leg that is briefly shown. There is fighting with knives and hand-to-hand combat, but it is not gory violence. There is no swearing or use of drugs, however, Haymitch is shown drinking liquor in a few scenes. There are a few kissing scenes but no sex or making out.

The concept of the movie and the many deaths make this movie intense and younger viewers under 12's, mainly may be scared or frightened. The bottom line: Watch this movie and decide if your child can handle it. It depends on how mature they are, but I would recommend it to 11 and over.

Read my mind 2. Great The hunger games movie is amazingly every aspect. The movie stays true to the book, with its promotion of sending the messages 'be yourself' and 'standing up for what's right'. The movie contains various themes of moderate violence, drinking, some romance, but overall sends strong messages to the audience, mostly younger people and if you are thinking of seeing it you will be not be disappointed.

Teen, 13 years old Written by qwerty8me March 23, The Hunger Games First of all, this is an utterly fantastic movie. The acting is superb, the effects were great, and over all, it was a great adaption.

Many people are worried that it's too violent for tweens. I've scrolled through the reviews on this site, and they're crazy. NOT for kids! I mean, given their seemingly unlimited wealth and the unfathomable things that scientific progress has allowed for them instant injury healing cream, for instance , I do not think it would take much effort to, say, end world hunger with some sort of microwave that zaps up a whole feast in seconds or ensure every family has shelter with fireproof houses.

The obvious answer as to why this is not the case, of course, is the fact that President Snow Donald Sutherland is an evil, ruthless, tyrannical bastard. Even so, would it not boost his approval ratings among the lesser privileged states if he actually showed them proof that he gave a damn and used his resources for good for once?

Whether the filmmakers like it or not, this is a story about kids killing other kids with knives, bows and arrows, and anything else they can get their hands on. But in The Hunger Games you feel these scenes are like ink smudged in the rain. Perhaps it was calculated to get a PG rating; perhaps Ross is a chump as a director he made a similar hash of Seabiscuit ; perhaps the script, by Ross, Suzanne Collins, and Billy Ray who wrote Shattered Glass never settled on the level of terror or savagery it was trying for.

I grieve for Jennifer Lawrence to think that vital years will be given over to the drivel of this franchise. It is sad to see Woody Harrelson in a role that need not exist, when he is becoming an odd and compelling actor. The only person I want to see again is Stanley Tucci, who is witty, exact, and wicked as a blue-haired commentator to the games—they are a television entertainment, of course, a reality show. Tucci is a treasure as an actor.

No one begrudges films that make more money than sense.
