Joined May 23, Messages 1, Ive hardly heard a bad review about Ping Irons from anyone who has hit them except me. Had some G10's and they just felt dead off the face to me for some reason.
I am however an exception to the majority. Joined Jul 31, Messages 4, Location Leeds. I use the G20's and they are everything I hate about a golf club. They are cast, they have a massive cavity, really thick top line, enormous sole and lots of off set. They are however the easiest clubs I have ever used and I cannot recommend them highly enough. They truly were made by Beelzebub himself in the casting rooms of Mount Doom. Shiny said:. Joined Mar 4, Messages 8, I tried some G15 irons and whilst I liked them very much I didn't go for them in the end.
They are insanely good clubs; the problem I had was the short clubs went stupid distances and yet the 4 and 5 irons were spot on my normal Xs. Would I rather have a set that went from yards, or a set that went from yards? Basically, there are superb. Search titles only. Search Advanced search…. Log in. Ping G15 or G20??? I am not playing nearly as often as I used to and as such are looking for a more forgiving state-of the-art set of irons.
I have narrowed my new irons down to the Ping G20 or G I've hit both and didn't feel a huge difference and distance struck was very similar between the 2 irons. Any input would be most appreciated. I'm no expert by any means so in the hands of someone who really knows what they are doing there may well be other benefits.
Posted 04 December - AM I've just gone from g10 to g20, I couldn't justify the difference between the 10 and 15, but there is a difference between the 10 and Ball flight is definitely high and I've gained about m. The shaft in the 10 was aldida stiff, I've got a tour stiff in the 20; half the gains were from the swing tips from the ping rep.
Posted 04 December - AM Thanks — Cramer is a legend It is a great pic and he is a legend but he should have his name spelt correctly. Cosmo Kramer sorry I don't normally correct spelling but this is important, as you would agree! Posted 05 December - AM Too quick on the keys, thanks for the correction. Posted 05 December - AM had two mates buy g20's recently and seen a noticeable improvement. Posted 05 December - AM Thanks for the feedback , took the demo G20 out again today instead of my G15 and yes , I think it is easier to hit consistently with more forgiveness than the G15 , some big drives but also hit the occasional big one with the G15 , overall I think the G20 is a better driver but there is not a lot in it.
So, the difference may not have been the driver head? They look 'smokey' for lack of a better term. I am sticking with the 15's. I've compared G15 and 20 side by side, and couldn't see any difference other than the sole and back cavity detailing is different.
G10 is almost identical as well. G25 is the only one that looks different, but it's not a dramatic change. Sole is clearly different, less offset in short irons, and top line is thinner. I don't think the blade length is longer, it just appears that way due to the top line. In terms of playability, they are all about equal in my experience.
G25 trajectory is same as G10 and G20, which I've played extensively. Currently use the 15's, but I would also throw in the G5's in the mix for favorite G-series. They had thinner soles and a nice simplistic look. Would still be playing those had I not got such a good deal on the 15's. Plus, they were still cast in the US, unlike the past 4 series.
Ping G Max I haven't played Ping irons since the IO3's. Then they seems to get larger with each iteration and I couldn't even look down at the G20's. The G25's are another matter, the soles have been reduced so you don't see the back of the club until the 4 iron?
I'm willing to give them a try now. What's your favorite G series? A few weeks after I bought the G15's the G25's came out and I am happy with my choice, they look better to my eye. Ping 9.
Got my G25's today. I have had G2's-G10's-G20's and I will have to say in my short range session and the few holes I played this afternoon that I hit the ball straighter and longer than ever before. I'm a 4 handicap and I hit my 6 iron this afternoon in 45 degree weather about to , way farther than before. Looking forward to this weekend to put them to a true test.
I was not sure that I would be happy with my trade but so far so good. I had g15 and i20's. I just sold the i20's to get fit. Tops on the demo list are the g I can't really compare as of yet as I have only hit a demo g25 7 iron into a net but I like the look and a little extra forgiveness on poor days would be a good thing.
TaylorMade Kingdom M4 9. Be sure to give us a review after you have played 18 with them. Bummer, Have the G15s and was planning on getting G25 irons. Maybe not after hearing they aren't really any better. Still pondering JPX s though. Says he will never get rid of them and I should spend the and get a set. Too bad I just got the G20's for a great price. There is nothing bad I can say about the G25 irons. They are a toned down game improvement club that many players will absolutely love.
The g15 has a look thats a little more traditional color, so some people may like that more. It's all just personal, all of these are really good. I know the club test issues are subject to bias and greasing or whatever, but every year ping G series grabs peoples attention in the performance category if not winning it.
