Both LE and GB allow 24bit recording. Ol' Betsey. You don't really even need to do that. If he uses Logic he can open your Garageband project files. Having said that you really should just get Logic Express. Makes you and your friends life that much simpler.
Logic is awesome and a better DAW but it does have a learning curve. If you take the time to learn Logic you will not look back, you will enjoy all the extra control and functions.
There are loads of tutorials out there too I hate garage band. If I now send my garageband songs to Logic Express and then continue adding tracks and mixing, the original tracks should sound just as good as if they were recorded in Logic, right?? It's just a different interface dealing with the audio. Be sure you copy the audio files to the new session check-box that'll come up in the save as dialogue and you're good to go. Thanks for the help!
You guys are awesome. Once I do that I can't ever use the song in garageband again can I?? Does anyone but me use GB for rapid prototyping capturing the idea with a few tracks , then switch over to Logic to complete the song? I find the initial project setup in Logic to be a real pain, whereas trying to do any serious mixing in GB is tortuous. Setup for Logic is super simple if you create a custom template. I am soooo out of touch with upgrade paths et al.
I'm a registered Logic user since and bought all the corresponding upgrades. That computer die in the middle of the project due to logic board problem told by apple official tech. Since I couldn't stop the project I was in, the customer lend me his computer, an apple laptop with LE on it.
I back up the project in his computer, and he then upgrade to LP. After all done, I bought my new iMac intel and migrate Logic from his computer. Big mistake I know!.. This is what bother me and want to buy the upgrade but don't know if it will work with this LP. The original logic studio is to old to install in this intel mac. But if it does, then I bough LP9. But it's still not under my name Thanks for your help.
I didn't know what to do then, and I don't know what to do now. I just don't want to go on and on upgrading LP and is not mine. Reviewing Logic Express 9 after the latest version of Logic Studio has been reviewed is an interesting proposition. These elements work just as they do in Logic Studio. The questions that remain for this mid-priced DAW are these: How does it compare to other applications in its price range? And how challenging will it be for those moving up from GarageBand?
It does so without feeling stripped down. But the elements that musicians are most likely to care about—Flex Time editing, the amps and pedalboard effects, the other new features I mentioned earlier, along with the already solid core of capabilities—are present. Although, while recording a few tunes with Logic Express, I missed some of the instrument sounds included with Logic Studio the Steinway piano, in particular , I never felt like Apple had removed a tool or tone that I absolutely needed.
In the case of the Steinway, I was welcome to purchase a third-party plug-in that provided the sound I was after. On that Mac I was able to open and play the track demo project without any glitches.
